Chief Financial Officer
Job Description
At Kineta, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will play a critical role in the future of the organization and be responsible for all financial operations and preparing the company for financial milestones and a public offering. This role will work directly with the CEO, President, and Board of Directors.
The CFO will possess a record of demonstrated success in building and managing a high-performance finance function, with proven experience meeting the demands of early-stage and publicly traded life science organizations. They will also have experience as a strategic thought leader to help drive corporate initiatives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Partner with the CEO and President to develop short- and long-term strategy
- Develop a world class forecasting and planning function (FP&A)
- Build and improve financial models to support expansion
- Long- and short-term strategic planning, budgeting and variance reporting
- Build relationships with, and partner with the wider leadership team to bring improved financial ownership of the presentation of Board Packs and Investor Information
- Work “hands-on” in the preparation of SEC filings including Forms 10-K, 10-Q and 8-K, proxy statements and press releases
- Build and manage a financial reporting function to deliver on SEC reporting and SOX 404 compliance.
- Statutory accounting and financial statements
- Oversee and ownership of tax accounting, compliance, and the audit process
- Regular liaison with external stakeholders and outreach to prospective investors
- Implement strategic process improvements aimed at effective use of cash and maximizing cash flow
- Regulatory compliance and reporting
- Extensive ad-hoc projects
- Develop and Provide reports to Board of Directors
Desired Qualifications
- Biotech Experience
- Minimum of 10 years progressive experience in a leadership role
- Experience as a public company officer and experience with requisite reporting obligations
- Experience with Start-Up or Emerging companies
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to command respect and the confidence of others
- Experience in preparing a finance team for the future
- Strategic thinker
- CPA
- Experience with and knowledge of life science institutional investors would be an asset
